Fallen Hero

One of the reasons we at Body Core are such huge fans of CrossFit is on display at www.crossfit.com today.  The WOD (Workout Of the Day) is named “Bradley” after U.S. Air Force Senior Airman Bradley R. Smith, who was killed in the line of duty on January 3rd of last year by an improvised explosive device in Afghanistan.  He was a local from Troy, Illinois serving his country in a distant place.  He had not even been deployed a full month at the time of his death.  He is survived by his wife, Tiffany, his parents, Gary and Paula, his brother and fellow airman, Ryan, and his daughter, Chloe, who had only been born just the October before his passing.  She was denied the opportunity to know and be raised by an undoubtedly great American.

Senator Kyle McCarter and the rest of the Body Core family wishes to express our deepest gratitude and appreciation for his service and sacrifice, and we also salute the sacrifice his entire family has made and continues to make.

Thank you to all the men and women (and their families) who serve to protect the liberties and freedoms we Americans have.

In remembrance of Brad, his family and friends are celebrating his life with the second annual Bradley R. Smith Memorial Scholarship 5K Run/Walk on September 10th.  This scholarship fund will award ten $1,000 scholarships to local high school students.  For more information, please go to www.runforbrad.com.
